TFI Sessions:
(OFFERED AT PHOTOGRAPHER'S DISCRETION AND CURRENT NEEDS)

Time for Images (TFI) is a term used to describe an agreement between a model and a photographer. (In the days of film and print, similar agreements were known as TFP - Time for Print(s)). Instead of paying for each other's services, the photographer agrees to provide the model a number of images of the best photographs from the session and a limited license to use those prints, in return for a broad model release. In other words, the model and photographer trade their valuable time and skills for images that each party can use to broaden and diversify their portfolio.

Photographers and models both benifit from TFI sessions to expand and diversify their mutual portfolios at little or no cost. I am currently looking to expand and diversify my portfolio, and am actively seeking male models (18+) for nude and semi-nude photos in both studio and environmental work. If you're interested in becoming a model, or have already worked as a model and are interested in expanding your portfolio, please contact me to schedule a meeting and test shoot. There is no need to be a professional model (I actually prefer that you are not.) But please come with a professional attitude and ready to work!

Although each shoot is unique and every situation is different, there are some common preferences when executing a TFI shoot. The following help explain what you may expect from a TFI shoot with Dave Milstead Photography:

• Themes and wardrobe requirements will be arranged prior to the shoot in person, by phone or over email.

• Models are usually responsible for their own wardrobe/accessory expenses, although other arrangements may be made depending on the type of shoot. If the shoot requires it a make-up artist or stylist may be called in to help. I usually take responsibility for any related costs, although some arrangements may be negotiated with the model.

Dave Milstead Photography will be responsible for any location permits or any additional equipment rental.

• Each participant is responsible for their own transportation to and from the shooting location.

• Guests of the model are usually discouraged from attending the shoot, as it will distract from the focus and attention of both the model and the photographer.

Dave Milstead Photographywill obtain a signed model release before we begin the shoot. The model release allows me to use the photographs for my portfolio, or for any art print or commercial purposes.

• Upon completion of a shoot, I will select and edit/retouch the best photos and will send them to the model upon completion. A large number of photographs will be taken during a shoot, but only a few will meet the demanding criteria I impose on myself.

• The model can expect between 30 and 40 professionally edited, high-resolution (print-ready) images ON CD from a typical 4-hour shoot.

• The model will receive rights to use the photographs for their portfolio, comp card, and online portfolio.

• The total time to select, retouch, and make available the final photographs to the model can range from two to eight weeks. I strive to email you a few preliminary images within two weeks, while I continue to select and edit the shoot's photos. Although the preliminary images will be low-resolution (suitable for online or email use, but not printing), I will follow-that up with the high-resolution (print-ready) images as soon as possible.

• All images and photographs will include a "DM" (Dave Milstead Photography)watermark (to deter image theft and false attribution). Watermarks will be placed in a position as to avoid detracting from the photograph itself.

• The model is free to use the final images for their own self-promotion. The model can print the images for their portfolio, or comp card, and use the digital images in a online portfolio or for other personal uses. The model may not sell or trade the photographs. The model may not submit the photographs to magazine/online contests without my permission.

• As the photographer I take significant time to prepare for any shoot. Therefore I may require the model submit a $100 deposit to help guarantee their attendance. This deposit is at my discretion, and may be waived depending on the circumstances of the model and the shoot. I will refund any deposit when the model shows up for the photo shoot, ready to work in accordance with our arrangement.
